AN ACT concerning 1
Public School Construction and Renovation – Solar Canopies for School 2
Parking Lots – Underground Infrastructure 3
FOR the purpose of requiring that certain construction projects or major renovation 4
projects of public school buildings be designed, engineered, and constructed in a 5
manner so that school parking lots are equipped with the appropriate underground 6
infrastructure necessary to support solar canopy installation; and generally relating 7
to public school construction and renovations. 8

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 14

FOR EACH CONSTRUCTION PROJECT OR MAJOR REN OVATION PROJECT OF A 18
PUBLIC SCHOOL BUILDING PROP OSED AFTER DECEMBER 31, 2025, THAT INCLUDES 19
THE CONSTRUCTION OR RENOVATION OF A SCHOOL PARKING LOT , THE STATE 20
SHALL REQUIRE THAT T HE PROJECT BE DESIGNED , ENGINEERED , AND 21
CONSTRUCTED IN A MANNER SO THAT THE PARKING LOT IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 22
APPROPRIATE UNDERGRO UND INFRASTRUCTURE NECESSARY TO SUPPORT SOLAR 23
