AN ACT concerning 1 
 
Election Law – Gubernatorial Primary Election – Date 2 
 
FOR the purpose of altering the date for the statewide primary election in the year of the 3 
gubernatorial election; and generally relating to the date for primary elections. 4 
 
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, 5 
 Article – Election Law 6

 SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 10 
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 11 
 
Article – Election Law 12 
 
8–201. 13 
 
 (a) (1) There shall be a statewide primary election in every even–numbered 14 
year. 15 
 
 (2) A primary election shall be held: 16 
 
 (i) in the year in which the Governor is elected, on the [last] 17 
FOURTH Tuesday in June; and 18 
 
 (ii) in the year in which the President of the United States is elected, 19 
on the fourth Tuesday in April. 20

 (b) In Baltimore City, there shall be a primary election for municipal offices on 1 
the fourth Tuesday in April in the year in which the President of the United States is 2 
elected. 3 
 
 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 4 
October 1, 2025. 5
