AN ACT concerning 1 
 
Vehicle Laws – Stopping, Standing, or Parking in a Bike Lane or Bicycle Path – 2 
Prohibition 3 
 
FOR the purpose of prohibiting a person from stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle in a 4 
bike lane or bicycle path; and generally relating to stopping, standing, or parking a 5 
vehicle in a bike lane or bicycle path.  6 
 
BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments, 7 
 Article – Transportation 8 
Section 21–101(a), (c), and (e) and 21–1003(a) 9 
 Annotated Code of Maryland 10 
 (2020 Replacement Volume and 2024 Supplement) 11 
 
BY adding to 12

 SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 17 
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 18 
 
Article – Transportation 19 
 
21–101. 20 
 
 (a) In this title and Title 25 of this article the following words have the meanings 21 
indicated. 22 
  2 	SENATE BILL 133  
 
 
 (c) “Bicycle path” means any travelway designed and designated by signing or 1 
signing and marking for bicycle use, located within its own right–of–way or in a shared 2 
right–of–way, and physically separated from motor vehicle traffic by berm, shoulder, curb, 3 
or other similar device. 4 
 
 (e) “Bike lane” means any portion of a roadway or shoulder designated for single 5 
directional bicycle flow. 6 
 
21–1003. 7 
 
 (a) The provisions of this section apply except as necessary to avoid conflict with 8 
other traffic or in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or traffic control 9 
device. 10 
 
 (GG) A PERSON MAY NOT STOP , STAND, OR PARK A VEHICLE IN A BIKE LANE 11 
OR BICYCLE PATH . 12 
 
 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall tak e effect 13 
October 1, 2025. 14
