BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 18 That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 19 Article – Education 20 2 SENATE BILL 136 7–1501. 1 (a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated. 2 (f) “Fund” means the Safe Schools Fund. 3 7–1508. 4 (g) (1) For fiscal year 2020 and each fiscal year thereafter, the Governor shall 5 include in the annual budget bill an appropriation of $10,000,000 to the Fund for the 6 purpose of providing grants to local school systems and local law enforcement agencies to 7 assist in meeting the requirements of subsection (e) of this section. 8 (2) Grants provided under this subsection [shall]: 9 (I) SHALL be made to each local school system based on the number 10 of schools in each school system in proportion to the total number of public schools in the 11 State in the prior year; AND 12 (II) MAY BE REALLOCATED TO LOCAL SCHOOL SYSTEMS THAT 13 HAVE FULLY EXPENDED THEIR ALLOCATION AND DEMONSTRATE NEED WIT HIN THE 14 SAME FISCAL YEAR . 15 (3) TWICE ANNUALLY , THE SUBCABINET SHALL NOTI FY EACH LOCAL 16 SCHOOL SYSTEM REG ARDING THE STATUS OF THE ALLOCATIONS MADE UNDER 17 PARAGRAPH (2) OF THIS SUBSECTION . 18 SECTION 2.
