AN ACT concerning 1 
 
Natural Resources – Canada Geese – Bag Limits 2 
 
FOR the purpose of requiring, during the migratory Canada goose hunting season, the bag 3 
limit for all Canada geese in certain areas of the State to conform to the bag limit for 4 
migratory Canada geese adopted annually by the Department of the Interior’s U.S. 5 
Fish and Wildlife Service; and generally relating to bag limits for Canada geese. 6 
 
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, 7

 SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 12 
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 13 
 
Article – Natural Resources 14

 (A) [Pursuant to] IN ACCORDANCE WITH § 10–205 of this title, the Department 16 
shall establish and publish by April 25 each year the bag limits per day for game birds and 17 
mammals by regulation for the ensuing year. 18

 (B) [The] EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBSECTION (C) OF THIS SECTION, THE 1 
bag limits for ducks, geese, brant, railbirds, woodcock, mergansers, doves, and snipe may 2 
conform to the federal migratory bird rules and regulations adopted annually by the 3 
Secretary of the Interior of the United States. 4 
 
 (C) (1) THIS SUBSECTION DOES NOT APPLY IN: 5 
 
 (I) ALLEGANY COUNTY; 6 
 
 (II) FREDERICK COUNTY; 7 
 
 (III) GARRETT COUNTY;  8 
 
 (IV) WASHINGTON COUNTY; AND 9 
 
 (V) THE PORTION OF CARROLL COUNTY GEOGRAPHICALLY 10 
WEST OF ROUTE 31 AND ROUTE 97. 11 
 
 (2) DURING THE MIGRATORY CANADA GOOSE (ATLANTIC 12 
POPULATION ) HUNTING SEASON , THE BAG LIMIT FOR AL L CANADA GEESE IN THE 13 
STATE, INCLUDING GEESE FOUN D IN THE ATLANTIC FLYWAY RESIDENT 14 
POPULATION HUNT ZONE AND THE ATLANTIC POPULATION HUNT ZONE, SHALL 15 
CONFORM TO THE BAG L IMIT FOR ATLANTIC POPULATION CANADA GEE SE ADOPTED 16 
ANNUALLY BY THE DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR’S U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE 17 
SERVICE. 18 
 
 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 19 
1, 2025. It shall remain effective for a period of 5 years and, at the end of June 30, 2030, 20 
this Act, with no further action required by the General Assembly, shall be abrogated and 21 
of no further force and effect. 22
