JOINT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING MAY 17, 2023 AS WORLD 
NEUROFIBROMATOSIS AWARENESS DAY
WHEREAS, 
Neurofibromatosis Awareness Day to educate the public about this rare genetic disorder; and
WHEREAS, 
neurofibromatosis and one in every 3,000 newborns is diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, it is 
still is relatively unknown to the public; and
WHEREAS, 
ethnicity or gender; and
WHEREAS, 
also can affect development of the brain, cardiovascular system, bones and skin; and
WHEREAS, 
disfigurement, learning disabilities, disabling pain and cancer; and
WHEREAS, 
sponsor world-class medical research aimed at finding effective treatments and, ultimately, a 
cure for neurofibromatosis; and
WHEREAS, 
inventive approaches to scientific advancement and improved patient care, revamping systems 
to accelerate the path from discovery to treatment; and
WHEREAS, 
care through its national neurofibromatosis clinic network; and
WHEREAS, 
through its information resources, youth programs and community activities; and
WHEREAS, 
to help promote early diagnosis, proper management and treatment, prevention of 
complications and support for research; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That We, the Members of the One Hundred and Thirty-first Legislature now 
assembled in the First Special Session, on behalf of the people we represent, take this 
opportunity to recognize May 17, 2023 as World Neurofibromatosis Awareness Day.
