Page 1 - 131LR0664(01)1 acts and resolves of the Legislature do not 2 become effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as emergencies; and 3 ensuring that the timely and accurate reporting of all name changes to the 4 Department of Public Safety, Bureau of State Police, State Bureau of Identification is 5 essential to the operations of the State Bureau of Identification; and 6 in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create an emergency within 7 the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and require the following legislation as 8 immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, 9 therefore, 10 11 is enacted to read: 12 13 section to the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of State Police, State Bureau of 14 Identification by providing the person's former name, new name and date of birth and, if 15 known to the court, a number associated with the person's criminal history record 16 information, as defined in Title 16, section 703, or other number assigned by the State 17 Bureau of Identification. 18 19 takes effect when approved. 20 21 This bill requires the Probate Court to report by electronic means all name changes to 22 the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of State Police, State Bureau of Identification. 21 22
