2 Education shall coordinate with the superintendent of the Maine Indian Education school 
3 district to make available and disseminate to state-approved high schools throughout the 
4 State, as appropriate, any Wabanaki-centered curriculum for Native American high school 
5 students developed and implemented by the Maine Indian Education school district. The 
6 Maine Indian Education school district shall administer the pilot program. No later than 
7 December 3, 2025, the department and the superintendent shall report to the Joint Standing 
8 Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs on the dissemination of any curriculum under 
9 this section and the use of funds pursuant to section 2.

11 appropriations and allocations are made.

14 Initiative: Provides one-time funds to the Maine Indian Education school district to develop 
15 and implement a Wabanaki-centered curriculum for Native American high school students. 
16 The Maine Indian Education school district is required to administer the pilot program in 
17 conjunction with state-approved high schools. The funds will be used for curriculum 
18 development, staff, transportation and support services.

20 This resolve provides $100,000 for each year in the 2026-2027 biennium to the Maine 
21 Indian Education school district to develop and implement a Wabanaki-centered 
22 curriculum for Native American high school students. It requires the Maine Indian 
23 Education school district to administer a pilot program in coordination with state-approved 
24 high schools throughout the State.  The funds will be used for curriculum development, 
25 staff, transportation and support services.
30 The resolve also directs the Department of Education to coordinate with the Maine 
31 Indian Education school district to make available and disseminate, as appropriate, any 
32 Wabanaki-centered curriculum for Native American high school students to state-approved 
33 schools throughout the State. It requires the department and the superintendent to report to 
34 the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs on the dissemination of 
35 the curriculum and use of funds.
