B, ยง6, is 3 amended to read: 4 The Governor shall appoint the Director of the Office of Cannabis Policy, referred to 5 in this chapter as "the director," subject to review by the joint standing committee of the 6 Legislature having jurisdiction over cannabis matters and to confirmation by the 7 Legislature. The Director of the Office of Cannabis Policy, referred to in this chapter as 8 "the director," may employ personnel as necessary to implement, administer and enforce 9 this chapter and the rules adopted pursuant to this chapter and the Maine Medical Use of 10 Cannabis Act and the rules adopted pursuant to that Act. 11 The Governor shall appoint the Director of the Office of 12 Cannabis Policy pursuant to the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 28-B, section 104-B no later 13 than 60 days after the effective date of this Act. 14 15 This bill provides that the Director of the Office of Cannabis Policy within the 16 Department of Administrative and Financial Services is appointed by the Governor and 17 that the appointment is subject to review by the joint standing committee of the Legislature 18 having jurisdiction over cannabis matters and to confirmation by the Legislature. The bill 19 also requires the Governor to appoint the Director of the Office of Cannabis Policy no later 20 than 60 days after the effective date of this legislation. 15 16 17 18 19 20
