3 ยง1, is further amended to read:
4 A. The amount must be paid in 4 equal quarterly payments during the year of 
5 attendance.  The first payment must be made by July 31st.  The amount of tuition and 
6 other costs paid for all students is limited to the amount appropriated for this purpose.  
7 To be eligible for state funding under this paragraph, a student must have resided reside 
8 in Maine with a parent, other relative or guardian for at least 6 months immediately 
9 preceding application to the school at the start of the academic year for which state 
10 funding is appropriated.
11 The following appropriations and 
12 allocations are made.

16 support administrative operations.

22 Initiative: Provides ongoing funds to the Maine School of Science and Mathematics to 
23 allow the administration to give financial support to in-state students who demonstrate a 
24 financial need related to paying room and board expenses.

31 Current law requires that state funding for a student who applies to the Maine School 
32 of Science and Mathematics is available only if the student resided in Maine for at least 6 
33 months prior to applying to the school.  This bill instead requires that the student reside in 
34 Maine at the start of the academic year for which state funds are appropriated.  This bill 
35 also provides ongoing funds to the Maine School of Science and Mathematics to support
