"Cookware product" means a durable houseware product intended to be used on 5 a cooktop or in an oven to prepare, dispense or store food, foodstuffs or beverages, 6 including, but not limited to, a pot, pan, skillet, grill, baking sheet, baking mold, tray, 7 bowl and cooking utensil. "Cookware product" does not include a polymer-coated 8 durable item that the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Food 9 and Drug Administration authorizes for food contact. 10 as enacted by PL 2023, c. 630, ยง1, is 11 amended by amending subparagraph (2) to read: 12 (2) A cookware product with a cooking surface that is intended to be in direct 13 contact with foodstuffs or beverages and containing intentionally added PFAS. 14 This subparagraph does not apply to a cookware product with a cooking surface 15 containing polytetrafluoroethylene, fluorinated ethylene propylene or 16 perfluoroalkoxy alkane; 17 18 This bill allows the sale of cookware with a cooking surface containing the PFAS 19 polytetrafluoroethylene, fluorinated ethylene propylene or perfluoroalkoxy alkane. 18 19
