11 HOUSE BILL NO. 5743 A bill to amend 1963 PA 17, entitled "An act to relieve certain persons from civil liability when rendering emergency care, when rendering care to persons involved in competitive sports under certain circumstances, or when participating in a mass immunization program approved by the department of public health," (MCL 691.1501 to 691.1507) by adding section 8. the people of the state of michigan enact: Sec. 8. An individual who, having no duty to do so, in a good-faith response to an emergency medical situation, voluntarily applies bleeding control, through pressure, a dressing, packing, or a tourniquet, to another individual is not liable in a civil action for damages resulting from an act or omission in applying the bleeding control, except an act or omission that constitutes gross negligence or willful and wanton misconduct. Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 5742 (request no. 05173'24 a) of the 102nd Legislature is enacted into law.
