11 HOUSE BILL NO. 6097 A bill to amend 2006 PA 110, entitled "Michigan zoning enabling act," (MCL 125.3101 to 125.3702) by adding section 517. the people of the state of michigan enact: Sec. 517. (1) Subject to subsection (2), a residential duplex is a permitted use in any district in which a single-family residence is a permitted use, and the duplex is not subject to a special or conditional use permit or procedure to which single-family residences are not subject. (2) Subsection (1) applies only to a local unit that is located in whole or part within a metropolitan statistical area or is located adjacent to a metropolitan statistical area. (3) As used in this section, "metropolitan statistical area" means a metropolitan statistical area as defined by the United States Office of Management and Budget. Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 180 days after the date it is enacted into law.
