11 SENATE BILL NO. 796 A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1280h. the people of the state of michigan enact: Sec. 1280h. (1) By not later than December 31, 2024, the department shall develop a letter-grade system that assigns a letter grade of A, B, C, D, or F to each public school. Each letter grade must correspond to a score range of the Michigan School Index System or successor system that is in compliance with the federal accountability requirements as provided under the every student succeeds act, Public Law 114-95. (2) By not later than December 31, 2024, the department shall assign a letter grade of A, B, C, D, or F to each public school using the system developed under subsection (1) and publish a list of each public school's assigned letter grade on the department's website. (3) By not later than January 31, 2025, each public school shall publish the letter grade that the public school was assigned under subsection (2) on the public school's website homepage.
