44 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
55 1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; NORTHSIDE BOXING CLUB.​
66 1.6 $250,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the workforce development fund to​
77 1.7the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to Northside Boxing​
88 1.8Club to provide business and life skills to youth through mentorships and training in the​
99 1.9craft of barbering. Northside Boxing shall utilize hand-picked barbers to act as positive role​
1010 1.10models for youth, instilling Northside Boxing's core values of discipline, respect, and hard​
1111 1.11work. Programming for youth participants shall include development of essential and​
1212 1.12transferable skills such as customer service, communication, money management, and​
1313 1.13professionalism. Northside Boxing may use funds to provide wraparound services, including​
1414 1.14but not limited to meals, nutrition education, homework help, and tutoring to help facilitate​
1515 1.15participants being able to start and stay in the program. This is a onetime appropriation and​
1616 1.16is available until June 30, 2027.​
