55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 624.714, is amended by adding a subdivision​
77 1.7to read:​
88 1.8 Subd. 25.Military discharge papers; equivalent to permit to carry.Notwithstanding​
99 1.9any provision in this section or other law to the contrary, a veteran, as defined in section​
1010 1.10197.447, may carry a pistol as provided in this subdivision under any circumstances and in​
1111 1.11any location in which a permit to carry is otherwise required. The veteran must possess the​
1212 1.12original or a certified copy of the veteran's government form DD214 while carrying the​
1313 1.13pistol. This form constitutes the legal equivalency of a permit to carry. The veteran is not​
1414 1.14required to apply for a permit to carry, pay any fees, or demonstrate training in the safe use​
1515 1.15of a pistol. All other provisions of this section and other laws relating to permits to carry​
1616 1.16pistols apply to a veteran carrying under this subdivision.​
