1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to public safety; increasing presumptive sentences for criminal sexual 1.3 conduct crimes. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5 Section 1. DIRECTION TO SENTENCING GUIDELINES COMMISSION. 1.6 (a) The Sentencing Guidelines Commission shall increase the presumptive sentence 1.7durations for violations of Minnesota Statutes, sections 609.342, 609.343, 609.344, 609.345, 1.8609.3451, 609.3453, and 609.3458 by 25 percent. 1.9 (b) Paragraph (a) does not apply to violations of Minnesota Statutes, sections 609.342, 1.10subdivision 1a, paragraph (f); 609.343, subdivision 1a, paragraph (f); 609.344, subdivision 1.111a, paragraph (b) or (e); or 609.345, subdivision 1a, paragraph (b) or (e), if the offender is 1.12in a recent or current position of authority over the victim. 1.13 (c) The changes required in paragraph (a) must be implemented in the 2025 sentencing 1.14grid, be effective on August 1, 2025, and be applicable to crimes committed on or after that 1.15date. 1Section 1.
