1.2 relating to energy; appropriating money for certain energy efficiency projects in
1.3 Brainerd.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECTS; BRAINERD PUBLIC UTILITIES;
1.6APPROPRIATION.
1.7 (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 116C.779, subdivision 1, paragraph (j),
1.8$9,900,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the renewable development account
1.9under Minnesota Statutes, section 116C.779, subdivision 1, to the commissioner of commerce
1.10for a grant to Brainerd Public Utilities for energy efficiency projects. The appropriation
1.11under this section is available until expended.
1.12 (b) For the purposes of this section, "energy efficiency project" includes but is not limited
1.13to:
1.14 (1) upgrades to existing turbine generators;
1.15 (2) replacing existing turbine generators with new units; or
1.16 (3) improvements to existing structures to accommodate new turbine generators.
