1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to workforce development; appropriating money for a grant to the
1.3 Minnesota Grocers Association Foundation for the Carts to Careers initiative.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; CARTS TO CAREERS.
1.6 $750,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $750,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the
1.7workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development
1.8for grants to the Minnesota Grocers Association Foundation for Carts to Careers, a statewide
1.9initiative to promote careers in the food industry, conduct outreach, provide job skills
1.10training, and award scholarships for students pursuing careers in the food industry. The
1.11amount may also be used for training and development costs, certifications, and other
1.12activities aimed at strengthening the workforce pipeline in the food retail sector. This is a
1.13onetime appropriation.
