1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to veterans; modifying human services data and veterans data provisions; 1.3 amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, sections 13.461, subdivision 27; 197.065. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 13.461, subdivision 27, is amended to read: 1.6 Subd. 27.State soldiers assistance program Veterans affairs programs.Access to 1.7information for purposes of verifying eligibility for the State Soldiers Assistance Program, 1.8the Veterans Stable Housing Initiative, and veterans programs is governed by section 1.9197.065. 1.10 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 197.065, is amended to read: 1.11 197.065 ACCESS TO DATABASE. 1.12 Notwithstanding section 13.46, subdivision 2, the commissioner of veterans affairs may 1.13electronically access the MAXIS database maintained by the Department of Human Services 1.14Children, Youth, and Families for the purpose of verifying eligibility status of applicants 1.15for benefits under the State Soldiers Assistance Program, the Veterans Stable Housing 1.16Initiative, and veterans programs. The commissioner may electronically access the MAXIS 1.17database to ensure that veterans are connected to all available state and federal resources 1.18for which the veterans are eligible. The commissioner must provide informed consent in 1.19order to access Department of Human Services and Department of Children, Youth, and 1.20Families data. 1Sec. 2.
