| 6 | 6 | | 1.6BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: |

| 7 | 7 | | 1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 466.01, subdivision 1, is amended to read: |

| 8 | 8 | | 1.8 Subdivision 1.Municipality.For the purposes of sections 466.01 to 466.15, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1.9"municipality" means any city, whether organized under home rule charter or otherwise, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1.10any county, town, public authority, public corporation, nonprofit firefighting corporation |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1.11that has associated with it a relief association as defined in section 424A.001, subdivision |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 1.124, special district, school district, however organized, water or sewer system formed under |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 1.13chapter 116A, county agricultural society organized pursuant to chapter 38, joint powers |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 1.14board or organization created under section 471.59 or other statute, public library, regional |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 1.15public library system, multicounty multitype library system, the following local collaboratives |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 1.16whose plans have been approved by the Children's Cabinet: family services collaboratives |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 1.17established under section 142D.15, children's mental health collaboratives established under |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 1.18sections 245.491 to 245.495, or a collaborative established by the merger of a children's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 1.19mental health collaborative and a family services collaborative, other political subdivision, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 1.20community action agency, or a limited partnership in which a community action agency is |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 1.21the sole general partner. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 1.22 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective August 1, 2025, and applies to causes |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 1.23of action accruing on or after that date. |
