1.2 relating to education; providing for a grant for learning with music; appropriating

1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; MACPHAIL CENTER FOR MUSIC.
1.6 Subdivision 1.Department of Education.The sums indicated in this section are
1.7appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education in the fiscal years
1.8designated.
1.9 Subd. 2.MacPhail Center for Music.(a) For a grant to the MacPhail Center for Music
1.10to expand the Learning with Music program:

1.13 (b) The grant recipient must use grant money received under this section to:
1.14 (1) create and deliver professional development training opportunities to early childhood
1.15educators statewide, both online and in person, that are based on the research-backed
1.16successful elements of the Learning with Music program; and
1.17 (2) deepen direct programming to five early childhood center locations to serve as the
1.18model for program expansion, with a focus on meeting the needs of children experiencing
1.19economic hardship in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
