44 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
55 1.5 Section 1. MINNESOTA TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATION.​
66 1.6 $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from​
77 1.7the general fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant​
88 1.8to the Minnesota Technology Association to support the SciTech internship program, a​
99 1.9program that supports science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) internship​
1010 1.10opportunities for two- and four-year college students and graduate students in their fields​
1111 1.11of study. The internship opportunities must match students with paid internships within​
1212 1.12STEM disciplines at small, for-profit companies located in Minnesota having fewer than​
1313 1.13250 employees worldwide. The grant must provide selected hiring companies 50 percent​
1414 1.14of the wages paid to the intern, capped at $3,000 per intern. The program must work toward​
1515 1.15increasing the participation among women or other underserved populations. This is a​
1616 1.16onetime appropriation.​
