55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 169.781, subdivision 10, is amended to read:​
77 1.7 Subd. 10.Exemptions.(a) This section does not apply to a vehicle operated by a motor​
88 1.8carrier of passengers, as defined in section 221.012, subdivision 26, if the vehicle has been​
99 1.9inspected under section 221.0252, subdivision 3, paragraph (a), clause (2), within the previous​
1010 1.1012 months.​
1111 1.11 (b) This section does not apply to a covered farm vehicle, as defined in Code of Federal​
1212 1.12Regulations, title 49, section 390.5, that is not carrying hazardous materials of a type or​
1313 1.13quantity that requires the vehicle to be placarded in accordance with Code of Federal​
1414 1.14Regulations, title 49, section 172.504.​
1515 1.15 (c) This section does not apply to a farm work truck that is:​
1616 1.16 (1) operated in intrastate commerce;​
1717 1.17 (2) used in the transportation of anhydrous ammonia to a farm for on-farm use, or from​
1818 1.18a farm; and​
1919 1.19 (3) not otherwise used in the transportation of hazardous materials of a type or quantity​
2020 1.20that requires the vehicle to be placarded in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations,​
2121 1.21title 49, section 172.504.​

3535 2.5 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 169.782, subdivision 4, is amended to read:​
3636 2.6 Subd. 4.Exceptions.(a) This section does not apply to a commercial motor vehicle that​
3737 2.7is a farm truck that may be operated by a person not holding a commercial driver's license,​
3838 2.8provided that before driving the vehicle, a driver must determine that the vehicle is in safe​
3939 2.9operating condition.​
4040 2.10 (b) This section does not apply to a commercial motor vehicle held for resale by a motor​
4141 2.11vehicle dealer licensed under section 168.27.​
4242 2.12 (c) This section does not apply to a covered farm vehicle as defined in Code of Federal​
4343 2.13Regulations, title 49, section 390.5, that is not carrying hazardous materials of a type or​
4444 2.14quantity that requires the vehicle to be placarded in accordance with Code of Federal​
