55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 473.4465, subdivision 2, is amended to read:​
77 1.7 Subd. 2.Use of funds; Metropolitan Council.(a) Sales tax revenue is available as​
88 1.8follows:​
99 1.9 (1) five percent for active transportation, as determined by the Transportation Advisory​
1010 1.10Board under subdivision 3; and​
1111 1.11 (2) 95 percent for transit system purposes under sections 473.371 to 473.452, except as​
1212 1.12specified under subdivision 5, including but not limited to operations, maintenance, and​
1313 1.13capital projects.​
1414 1.14 (b) The council must expend a portion of sales tax revenue in each of the following​
1515 1.15categories:​
1616 1.16 (1) improvements to regular route bus service levels;​
1717 1.17 (2) improvements related to transit safety, including additional transit officials, as defined​
1818 1.18under section 473.4075;​
1919 1.19 (3) maintenance and improvements to bus accessibility at transit stops and transit centers;​
2020 1.20 (4) transit shelter replacement and improvements under section 473.41;​
2121 1.21 (5) planning and project development for expansion of arterial bus rapid transit lines;​

4444 2.14 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 473.4465, subdivision 5, is amended to read:​
4545 2.15 Subd. 5.Prohibition.(a) The council is prohibited from expending sales tax revenue​
4646 2.16on the Southwest any light rail transit (Green Line Extension) or passenger rail project.​
4747 2.17 (b) Paragraph (a) expires on the date of expiration of the Metropolitan Governance Task​
4848 2.18Force as specified under Laws 2023, chapter 68, article 4, section 123, subdivision 11.​
