1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to veterans; modifying eligibility for burial in state veterans cemeteries;
1.3 appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 197.236,
1.4 subdivision 8.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 197.236, subdivision 8, is amended to read:
1.7 Subd. 8.Eligibility.Cemeteries must be operated solely for the burial of service members
1.8who die on active duty, eligible veterans, and their spouses and dependent children, as
1.9defined in United States Code, title 38, section 101, paragraph (2), and honorably discharged
1.10members of the National Guard or a reserve component of the United States armed forces.
1.11 Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION.
1.12 $....... in fiscal year 2026 and $....... in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the general
1.13fund to the commissioner of veterans affairs for purposes of Minnesota Statutes, section
1.14197.236, subdivision 8.
