66 1.6 Section 1. [123B.035] COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS; READING.​
77 1.7 To the extent space and supervisory staff are available, a school district or charter school​
88 1.8must provide space at the school site before or after the school day, on days when students​
99 1.9receive instruction, for community volunteers to support students in developing key reading​
1010 1.10skills. Community reading volunteers may read books to students, listen to students read​
1111 1.11aloud, or help students select books to read from the school library. Each volunteer must​
1212 1.12complete a background check under section 123B.03 and must be under the supervision​
1313 1.13and control of the school principal, or the school principal's designee, while present on​
1414 1.14school property.​
