44 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
55 1.5 Section 1. [120B.213] HEALTHY AGING AND DEMENTIA EDUCATION.​
66 1.6 School districts and charter schools are encouraged to provide instruction on healthy​
77 1.7aging and dementia to students in grades 6 through 12 that is aligned with local health​
88 1.8standards and integrated into existing programs, curriculum, or the general school​
99 1.9environment of a district or charter school. By July 1, 2026, and each even-numbered year​
1010 1.10thereafter, the commissioner of education, in consultation with the commissioner of health​
1111 1.11and dementia advocacy organizations, must provide districts and charter schools with age​
1212 1.12appropriate resources on healthy aging and dementia, including but not limited to strategies​
1313 1.13to maintain brain health, information on Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia,​
1414 1.14and caring for an elder with a cognitive impairment.​
1515 1.15 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective July 1, 2025.​
