11 1.1 A bill for an act​
22 1.2 relating to the legislature; modifying the prohibition on certain legislator lobbying​
33 1.3 activities; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 3.084, subdivision 2.​
44 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
55 1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 3.084, subdivision 2, is amended to read:​
66 1.6 Subd. 2.Prohibition.(a) A sitting member of the legislature is prohibited from accepting​
77 1.7employment with or otherwise receiving compensation for services performed from:​
88 1.8 (1) a business whose primary source of revenue is derived from lobbying, government​
99 1.9relations or government affairs services;​
1010 1.10 (2) a business whose primary source of revenue is derived from facilitating government​
1111 1.11relations or government affairs services between two third parties; or​
1212 1.12 (3) any other business that employs or contracts with lobbyists, government relations​
1313 1.13or government affairs professionals, if the member's job duties include acting in that capacity​
1414 1.14or providing direct or indirect consulting, advice, or administrative support for that work a​
1515 1.15business whose primary source of revenue is derived from facilitating government relations​
1616 1.16or government affairs services if the member's job duties include offering direct or indirect​
1717 1.17consulting or advice that helps the business provide government relations or government​
1818 1.18affairs services to clients.​
1919 1.19 (b) This prohibition applies regardless of the location where the work of the business is​
2020 1.20substantially conducted or its clients are located.​
2121 1.21 (c) The house of representatives and the senate must adopt rules to enforce this section.​
