1.2 relating to natural resources; appropriating money for emerald ash borer response
1.3 and community tree-planting grants.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. METRO EMERALD ASH BORER RESPONSE GRANTS;
1.6APPROPRIATION.
1.7 $5,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the Metropolitan
1.8Council for grants to local units of government for emerald ash borer response efforts,
1.9including but not limited to predesign and design of wood waste facilities, temporary wood
1.10waste storage facilities, transporting wood waste, and tree shredding and other tree disposal
1.11activities. This is a onetime appropriation and is available until June 30, 2028.
1.12 Sec. 2. COMMUNITY TREE-PLANTING GRANTS; APPROPRIATION.
1.13 $5,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
1.14of natural resources for community tree-planting grants under Minnesota Statutes, section
1.1584.705. This is a onetime appropriation and is available until June 30, 2028.
