55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. [168.1289] SNOWMOBILE SPECIAL PLATES.​
77 1.7 Subdivision 1.Issuance of plates.The commissioner must issue snowmobile special​
88 1.8license plates or a single motorcycle plate to an applicant who:​
99 1.9 (1) is a registered owner of a passenger automobile, noncommercial one-ton pickup​
1010 1.10truck, motorcycle, or recreational vehicle;​
1111 1.11 (2) pays special plate fees under section 168.12, subdivision 5, for each set of plates,​
1212 1.12along with any other fees required by this chapter;​
1313 1.13 (3) pays the registration tax as required under section 168.013;​
1414 1.14 (4) pays the fees required under this chapter;​
1515 1.15 (5) contributes $....... upon initial application and a minimum of $....... annually to the​
1616 1.16snowmobile trails and enforcement account under section 84.83, subdivision 2; and​
1717 1.17 (6) complies with this chapter and rules governing registration of motor vehicles and​
1818 1.18licensing of drivers.​
1919 1.19 Subd. 2.Design.The commissioner must adopt a suitable plate design in consultation​
2020 1.20with representatives from the Minnesota United Snowmobilers Association.​

3838 2.9and groom snowmobile trails and acquire easements.​
3939 2.10 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective January 1, 2026, for special plates issued​
