| 9 | 9 | | 1.9 Subdivision 1.Definition.As used in this section, "recovered or confiscated" means |

| 10 | 10 | | 1.10any of the following: |

| 11 | 11 | | 1.11 (1) obtained from a crime scene or in connection with a criminal investigation; |

| 12 | 12 | | 1.12 (2) seized by a law enforcement agency; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 1.13 (3) forfeited to a law enforcement agency; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 1.14 (4) acquired by a law enforcement agency as an abandoned or discarded firearm; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 1.15 (5) obtained following the unlawful discharge of a firearm; or |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 1.16 (6) otherwise obtained and reasonably believed to be connected to a crime. |

| 17 | 17 | | 1.17 Subd. 2.Reporting required.(a) Each law enforcement agency shall register for the |

| 18 | 18 | | 1.18United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives National Tracing |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 1.19Center's eTrace system, and opt-in to the system's collective data sharing feature. |

| 20 | 20 | | 1.20 (b) Whenever a firearm is recovered or confiscated by a law enforcement agency, the |
