                            1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to state employees; mandating a minimum wage for certain state interns;​
1.3 proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 43A.​
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.5 Section 1. [43A.60] STATE INTERNSHIPS; MINIMUM WAGE.​
1.6 A state intern is eligible for a minimum wage of at least $15 per hour if the state intern​
1.7is eligible to receive a federal Pell Grant based on the federal needs analysis and is enrolled​
1.8for nine semester credits per term or more, or the equivalent. For purposes of this section,​
1.9state intern has the meaning given under section 43A.02, subdivision 24, and includes an​
1.10intern working in a designated internship for the executive, legislative, or judicial branch.​
1.11This section does not apply to state interns who meet the criteria for an unpaid internship​
1.12under federal labor laws.​
