                    1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to higher education; increasing grant amounts for the dual training​
1.3 competency grant program; appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes​
1.4 2024, section 136A.246, subdivision 8.​
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 136A.246, subdivision 8, is amended to read:​
1.7 Subd. 8.Grant amounts.(a) The maximum grant for an application for the cost of​
1.8training is $150,000 $300,000. The maximum grant for an application for trainee support​
1.9is ten percent of the grant amount for the cost of training. The maximum total grant per​
1.10application is $165,000 $330,000. A grant may not exceed $6,000 $12,000 per year for a​
1.11maximum of $24,000 $48,000 per employee.​
1.12 (b) An employee who is attending an eligible training provider that is an institution under​
1.13section 136A.103 must apply for Pell and state grants as a condition of payment for training​
1.14that employee under this section.​
1.15 Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION; DUAL TRAINING COMPETENCY GRANTS.​
1.16 $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from​
1.17the general fund to the commissioner of the Office of Higher Education for transfer to the​
1.18dual training competency grants account in the special revenue fund under Minnesota​
1.19Statutes, section 136A.246, subdivision 10.​
