| 6 | 6 | | 1.6INMATE EDUCATIONAL AND SKILLS TRAINING. |

| 7 | 7 | | 1.7 (a) $92,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $92,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 1.8the general fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant to the Hennepin County |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1.9sheriff to support jail inmate educational and skills training. The grant must be used in the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1.10following manner: |

| 11 | 11 | | 1.11 (1) $89,000 each year is to hire, partner, or job share with a qualified individual to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 1.12provide educational instruction toward a high school diploma, or a GED, for jail inmates; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 1.13and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 1.14 (2) $3,000 each year is for the licensing fee for course workbooks related to anger |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 1.15management, cognitive awareness empowerment, personal responsibility, and parenting |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 1.16for use during in-person, hybrid, or self-directed instruction for jail inmates. |

| 17 | 17 | | 1.17 (b) The Hennepin County sheriff must submit an annual report to the commissioner by |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 1.18June 30 of each year the sheriff receives a grant under this section. The report must detail |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 1.19how the sheriff used the grant, describe the accomplishments achieved with the use of grant |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 1.20funds, and identify lessons learned and recommendations for best practices in providing |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 1.21educational and skills training programming to jail inmates. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 1.22 (c) The base for this appropriation is $92,000 in fiscal year 2028 and later. |
