                            1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to drivers' licenses; modifying certain requirements relating to a​
1.3 reintegration driver's license; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 171.301,​
1.4 subdivisions 5, 6.​
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 171.301, subdivision 5, is amended to read:​
1.7 Subd. 5.Expiration.A reintegration driver's license expires 15 24 months from the date​
1.8of issuance of the license. A reintegration driver's license may not be renewed.​
1.9 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment and​
1.10applies to reintegration licenses issued on or after that date.​
1.11 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 171.301, subdivision 6, is amended to read:​
1.12 Subd. 6.Issuance of regular driver's license.(a) Notwithstanding any statute or rule​
1.13to the contrary, the commissioner must issue a REAL ID-compliant or noncompliant license​
1.14to a person who possesses a reintegration driver's license if:​
1.15 (1) the person has possessed the reintegration driver's license for at least one full year;​
1.16 (2) the reintegration driver's license has not been canceled under subdivision 4 and has​
1.17not been expired for more than 90 days from the date under subdivision 5;​
1.18 (3) the person meets the application requirements under section 171.06, including payment​
1.19of the applicable fees, surcharge, and filing fee under sections 171.06, subdivisions 2 and​
1.202a, and 171.061, subdivision 4; and​
1​Sec. 2.​

The bill was read for the first time and referred to the Committee on Transportation Finance and Policy​ 2.1 (4) issuance of the license does not conflict with the requirements of the nonresident​
2.2violator compact.​
2.3 (b) The commissioner must forgive any outstanding balance due on a reinstatement fee​
2.4or surcharge under sections 171.20, subdivision 4, and 171.29, subdivision 2, for a person​
2.5who is eligible and applies for a license under paragraph (a).​
2.6 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.​
