1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to workforce development; appropriating money for a grant to the Rural
1.3 Cancer Institute.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; RURAL CANCER INSTITUTE.
1.6 $300,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $300,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the
1.7workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development
1.8for a grant to the Rural Cancer Institute for a pilot program to expand the clinical workforce
1.9specific to oncology care in rural districts. This program must increase the number of cancer
1.10care clinicians in rural districts and provide health care students with skills critical to the
1.11challenges of providing cancer care in a rural setting using a community-based model. The
1.12community-based model must grow the oncology clinical workforce in rural districts and
1.13directly address the cancer care workforce shortage in rural districts. This is a onetime
1.14appropriation.
