1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to children; appropriating money for improvements to the Social Services
1.3 Information System.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; SOCIAL SERVICES INFORMATION SYSTEM.
1.6 $40,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
1.7of children, youth, and families for information technology improvements to the Social
1.8Services Information System (SSIS). Money appropriated under this section must be used
1.9to develop and implement a modernization plan or replacement for SSIS. Improvements
1.10must be developed through collaborative planning with counties and Tribal Nations that
1.11use SSIS and must have a direct impact on child welfare casework. The appropriation must
1.12not be used for changes to SSIS that are not part of the modernization plan or for other
1.13Department of Human Services or Department of Children, Youth, and Families information
1.14technology systems. This is a onetime appropriation.
