6 | 6 | | 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 120B.20, is amended to read: |

8 | 8 | | 1.8 Subdivision 1.General requirements.Each school district shall must have a procedure |

9 | 9 | | 1.9for a parent, guardian, or an adult student, 18 years of age or older, to review the content |

10 | 10 | | 1.10of the instructional materials to be provided to a minor child or to an adult student and, |

11 | 11 | | 1.11including reviewing copies of all instructional or program materials, textbooks, printed |

12 | 12 | | 1.12content, videos, prerecorded materials, and online resources upon request. If the a parent, |

13 | 13 | | 1.13guardian, or adult student objects to the content, the procedure must include a process to |

14 | 14 | | 1.14make reasonable arrangements with school personnel for alternative instruction. Alternative |

15 | 15 | | 1.15instruction may be provided by the a parent, guardian, or adult student if the alternative |

16 | 16 | | 1.16instruction, if any, offered by the school board does not meet the concerns of the a parent, |
---|
17 | 17 | | 1.17guardian, or adult student. The school board is not required to pay for the costs of alternative |
---|
18 | 18 | | 1.18instruction provided by a parent, guardian, or adult student. School personnel may not |
---|
19 | 19 | | 1.19impose an academic or other penalty upon a student merely for arranging alternative |
---|
20 | 20 | | 1.20instruction under this section. School personnel may evaluate and assess the quality of the |
