| 4 | 4 | | 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: |

| 5 | 5 | | 1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 37.20, is amended to read: |

| 6 | 6 | | 1.6 37.20 SPECIAL PEACE OFFICERS. |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 1.7 The secretary or the president of the society may appoint, in a writing signed by either |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 1.8of them, as many peace officers, as defined in section 626.84, subdivision 1, clause paragraph |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1.9(c), as are necessary, both during the annual fair and throughout the year for the regulation |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1.10of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. These peace officers, before entering upon their duties, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1.11shall take and subscribe the usual oath of office, endorsed upon their appointment. They |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 1.12have upon the fairgrounds all the power and authority of peace officers and may, within |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 1.13these limits, without warrant, arrest any person found violating state law or any rule, bylaw, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 1.14or ordinance of the society. They may summarily remove the persons and property of the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 1.15offenders from the grounds, and take them before any court of competent jurisdiction to be |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 1.16dealt with according to law. Each peace officer shall wear an appropriate badge of office |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 1.17while acting as a peace officer. The society may also contract with the state, any county, or |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 1.18any municipality for police service and protection on the fairgrounds. When major events |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 1.19are held on the fairgrounds that are estimated to draw at least 2,500 attendees, the society |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 1.20must provide police service and protection on the fairgrounds and within half a mile of the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 1.21fairgrounds. |
