1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to agriculture; appropriating money for a livestock mRNA assessment;
1.3 requiring a report.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; LIVESTOCK MRNA ASSESSMENT.
1.6 $250,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
1.7of agriculture to develop, in consultation with the University of Minnesota Veterinary
1.8Medical Center or other agreed upon research entities and the commissioner of health, a
1.9fact- and science-based assessment of the risks and benefits associated with mRNA treatments
1.10for livestock, including current commercial use, if any, and any current public research
1.11trials. No later than January 15, 2026, the commissioner must submit the assessment and
1.12any corresponding policy recommendations to the chairs and ranking minority members of
1.13the legislative committees with jurisdiction over agriculture.
