22 1.2 relating to capital investment; appropriating money for the restoration of the Carver​

44 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
55 1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; CITY OF CARVER.​
66 1.6 $3,350,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner​
77 1.7of natural resources for a grant to the city of Carver for capital improvements to restore the​
88 1.8Carver levee, protecting an important historic district in Minnesota from floodwaters of the​
99 1.9Minnesota River. This levee restoration must meet the requirements of Federal Emergency​
1010 1.10Management Agency (FEMA) certification. The project includes predesign, design,​
1111 1.11engineering, land acquisition, and construction of capital improvements, including raising​
1212 1.12the height of the Carver levee, constructing internal drainage, establishing maintainable​
1313 1.13setbacks to adjacent structures, and certification by FEMA. This appropriation is in addition​
1414 1.14to the appropriation in Laws 2023, chapter 72, article 1, section 7, subdivision 8, and for​
1515 1.15the same purpose. This appropriation is onetime and is available until the project is completed​
1616 1.16or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.​
1717 1.17 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.​
