44 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
55 1.5 Section 1. DECOMMISSIONING AND REPURPOSING PLAN FOR COAL-FIRED​
66 1.6PLANT.​
77 1.7 (a) As a part of the next resource plan filing under Minnesota Statutes, section 216B.2422,​
88 1.8subdivision 2, but no later than February 1, 2027, a public utility that owns an electric​
99 1.9generation facility that is powered by coal, scheduled for retirement in 2027 and 2031, and​
1010 1.10located within the Mississippi River - St. Cloud Watershed must provide, to the extent​
1111 1.11known, the public utility's plan to repurpose each unit.​
1212 1.12 (b) A public utility that is subject to paragraph (a) must provide a copy of the plan and​
1313 1.13timeline to the governing body of the municipality where the electric generation facility is​
1414 1.14located on the same date the plan and timeline is submitted to the Public Utilities​
1515 1.15Commission.​
1616 1.16 (c) If a resource plan is not filed or required before February 1, 2027, the plan and​
1717 1.17timeline must be submitted to the Public Utilities Commission and the municipality as a​
1818 1.18separate filing by February 1, 2027.​
