1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to health; requiring health plans to cover medically necessary dental 1.3 procedures that are a result of cancer treatment; proposing coding for new law in 1.4 Minnesota Statutes, chapter 62Q. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. [62Q.59] COVERAGE FOR DENTAL PROCEDURES RESULTING 1.7FROM CANCER TREATMENT. 1.8 (a) All health plans, as defined in section 62Q.01, shall provide coverage for medically 1.9necessary dental procedures that are the direct result of cancer treatment, including 1.10chemotherapy, biotherapy, and radiation therapy. 1.11 (b) The coverage required under this section shall include coverage for evaluations and 1.12examinations, laboratory assessments, medications, and treatments associated with the 1.13medically necessary dental procedures resulting from cancer treatment. 1.14 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment and 1.15applies to insurance contracts issued, renewed, or amended on or after that date. 1Section 1.
