33 1.3BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
44 1.4 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; BRIDGES TO HEALTHCARE.​
55 1.5 $750,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $750,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the​
66 1.6workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development​
77 1.7for a grant to Bridges to Healthcare to provide career education, wraparound support services,​
88 1.8and job skills training in high-demand health care fields to low-income parents, nonnative​
99 1.9speakers of English, and other hard-to-train individuals, helping families build secure​
1010 1.10pathways out of poverty while also addressing worker shortages in one of Minnesota's most​
1111 1.11innovative industries. Grant proceeds may be used for program expenses, including but not​
1212 1.12limited to hiring instructors and navigators; space rental; and supportive services to help​
1313 1.13participants attend classes, including assistance with course fees, child care, transportation,​
1414 1.14and safe and stable housing. In addition, up to five percent of grant proceeds may be used​
1515 1.15for Bridges to Healthcare's administrative costs.​
