1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to education finance; expanding the allowable uses of student support 1.3 personnel aid; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 124D.901, subdivision 1.4 4. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 124D.901, subdivision 4, is amended to read: 1.7 Subd. 4.Allowed uses.(a) Aid under this section must be used to enhance student 1.8support services, including but not limited to hiring or contracting for personnel as provided 1.9under paragraphs (b) to (d) or paying the costs of necessary transportation, equipment, 1.10supplies, informational materials, communications, or personnel training. 1.11 (b) Aid under this section must may be used to hire new positions for student support 1.12services personnel or increase a current position that is less than 1.0 full-time equivalent to 1.13a greater number of service hours or make permanent a position hired using onetime resources 1.14awarded through the federal Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act, the federal 1.15Consolidated Appropriations Act, the federal Division M-Coronavirus Response and Relief 1.16Supplemental Appropriations Act, or the federal American Rescue Plan Act, or to maintain 1.17a position that would otherwise be eliminated. 1.18 (b) (c) Cooperative student support personnel aid must be transferred to the intermediate 1.19district or other cooperative unit of which the district is a member and may be used to hire 1.20new positions for student support services personnel or increase a current position that is 1.21less than 1.0 full-time equivalent to a greater number of service hours or make permanent 1.22a position hired using onetime resources awarded through the American Rescue Plan Act 1.23at the intermediate district or cooperative unit. 1Section 1.
