| 4 | 4 | | 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: |

| 5 | 5 | | 1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 204D.19, subdivision 1, is amended to read: |

| 6 | 6 | | 1.6 Subdivision 1.Vacancy filled at general election.When a vacancy occurs more than |

| 7 | 7 | | 1.7150 days before the next state general election, and the legislature will not be in session |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 1.8before the final canvass of the state general election returns, the vacancy shall be filled at |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1.9the next state general election. When practicable, the filing period for the vacancy must be |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1.10concurrent with the filing period for the general election filing period provided in section |

| 11 | 11 | | 1.11204B.09. If not possible, the filing period for the vacancy must be a minimum of seven days |

| 13 | 13 | | 1.13 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 204D.19, subdivision 2, is amended to read: |

|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 1.20vacancy occurs a writ calling for a special election. The filing period for the vacancy must |

| 21 | 21 | | 1.21be a minimum of seven days and a maximum of ten days, excluding holidays. The special |
