1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to education; modifying sexually transmitted infections and diseases 1.3 program requirements; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 121A.23, 1.4 subdivision 1. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 121A.23, subdivision 1, is amended to read: 1.7 Subdivision 1.Sexually transmitted infections and diseases program.The 1.8commissioner of education, in consultation with the commissioner of health, shall assist 1.9districts in developing and implementing a program to prevent and reduce the risk of sexually 1.10transmitted infections and diseases, including but not exclusive to human immune deficiency 1.11virus and human papilloma virus. Each district must have a program that includes at least: 1.12 (1) planning materials, guidelines, and other technically accurate and updated information 1.13that is medically and scientifically accurate and unbiased; 1.14 (2) a comprehensive, technically medically and scientifically accurate, unbiased, and 1.15updated curriculum that includes but is not limited to helping students to abstain from sexual 1.16activity until marriage; 1.17 (3) cooperation and coordination among districts and SCs; 1.18 (4) a targeting of adolescents, especially those who may be at high risk of contracting 1.19sexually transmitted infections and diseases, for prevention efforts; 1.20 (5) (4) involvement of parents and other community members; 1.21 (6) (5) in-service training for appropriate district staff and school board members; 1Section 1. 25-01995 as introduced01/10/25 REVISOR CR/KR SENATE STATE OF MINNESOTA S.F.
