1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to natural resources; providing for grants to restore and create wetlands
1.3 for the wetland banking program; appropriating money.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. GRANTS TO RESTORE AND CREATE WETLANDS;
1.6APPROPRIATION.
1.7 $....... in fiscal year 2026 and $....... in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the general
1.8fund to the Board of Water and Soil Resources for a cost-sharing program that provides
1.9assistance to landowners for restoring and creating sustainable wetlands that are eligible
1.10for wetland banking under the Wetland Conservation Act under Minnesota Statutes, sections
1.11103G.222 and 103G.2251. The following activities are eligible for grants:
1.12 (1) site assessment and evaluation;
1.13 (2) engineering design and construction, including rerouting or removing drainage
1.14systems;
1.15 (3) establishing vegetation; and
1.16 (4) costs associated with establishing long-term easements on the wetland.
