1.2 relating to transportation; increasing the contribution amount for blackout special
1.3 license plates and modifying the fund for deposit of revenue; amending Minnesota
1.4 Statutes 2024, section 168.1287, subdivisions 1, 5.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 168.1287, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
1.7 Subdivision 1.Issuance of plates.The commissioner must issue blackout special license
1.8plates or a single motorcycle plate to an applicant who:
1.9 (1) is a registered owner of a passenger automobile, noncommercial one-ton pickup
1.10truck, motorcycle, or recreational vehicle;
1.11 (2) pays an additional fee in the amount specified for special plates under section 168.12,
1.12subdivision 5;
1.13 (3) pays the registration tax as required under section 168.013;
1.14 (4) pays the fees required under this chapter;
1.15 (5) contributes a minimum of $30 annually to the driver and vehicle services operating
1.16account; and
1.17 (6) contributes a minimum of $20 annually to the Minnesota 100 Club account; and
1.18 (7) complies with this chapter and rules governing registration of motor vehicles and
1.19licensing of drivers.
1.20 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective July 1, 2025.
